Overview

Sam received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 2009 and a second B.A. in History in 2011. During his summers as an undergraduate at the University of Oregon, Sam worked as a wildland firefighter. He was elected University of Oregon Student Body President in 2008 and again in 2013.

 

Sam received his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2014. During law school, Sam served as a legal intern for Oregon’s Senior U.S. Senator, Ron Wyden, in Washington D.C. He was elected Vice President of the Student Bar Association in 2012. Sam also was a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Debre Weintraub, in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Additionally, while in law school Sam founded a political action committee dedicated to increasing funding for higher education and restructuring the governance of Oregon’s higher education system. For these efforts, in 2013 Oregon’s Governor John Kitzhaber appointed Sam as the first student ever to serve on the University of Oregon’s Board of Trustees.
